A Message from our President

Welcome to the Sensational Sigma Omicron Zeta Chapter. My name is Ayatta Hunter-James and I am the president of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated-Sigma Omicron Zeta Chapter in Gwinnett County, Georgia. On behalf of the members of Sigma Omicron Zeta, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our virtual home. Through these pages, you can learn more about our history and our commitment to Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood.

Since March 2002, Sigma Omicron Zeta has provided exemplary service to the residents of Gwinnett County, GA. We are proud to be an intergenerational chapter with a warm spirit and a heart for service.  We possess a strong sense of sisterhood and commitment to the community that is exemplified in our various activities and programs. Zetas Helping Other People Excel (Z-HOPE) is our international service program. It is under

this umbrella that Sigma Omicron Zeta works to provide premiere service focusing on some of our international programs which include: Elder Care, Adopt-A-School, Prematurity Awareness, Storks Nest, International Women of Color and many other initiatives designed to enhance the lives of others.

Sigma Omicron Zeta proudly lends her hands to support and develop young women in Gwinnett County. Our youth clubs offer female students an opportunity to enhance their leadership, social, and academic skills as they prepare to transition from a young girl to a young lady. The Pearlette Club is for girls ages 4-8 and our Amicette Club is for girls ages 9-13.  Our Pearls of Excellence Scholarship is awarded annually to a female high school senior who is a resident of Gwinnett County.

I have mentioned a few of our areas of involvement, but there is so much more. As we continue to celebrate our 100th year of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood and Finer Womanhood, we have a renewed spirit and zeal to continue the work of our Five Pearls. I invite you to visit our website frequently to learn more about upcoming chapter events and service efforts. Perhaps you have met some of our sorority members in your community and if not, this website is a start to getting to know us and our focus.  Please feel free to review our calendar and join us for any open activities. We also invite you to connect with us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.  Thank you for visiting our virtual home.

Yours in Service,

Ayatta Hunter-James
